Many teachers have told us how little time and resources they have to teach the important lessons of World War II, and many seniors have told us they want to support helping kids learn about this pivotal period in history. So, we are collecting donations from civic organizations and individuals who want to help get these books into the hands of late elementary and middle school children.
As we gather donations, reading group sets of 10 books or classroom sets of 30 books will be given to classroom teachers free of charge. The kits will include lesson plans, student activities and a special gift from the author.
The Home-Front Heroes books are based on the true stories of American children in World War II. They also contain back matter telling your students more about WWII history. They are age-appropriate, with no questionable content. They explore what it was like to be a normal kid during a time of great national sacrifice. This makes the Home-Front Heroes characters excellent models of citizenship and responsibility.
